The CJP has sought report from Secretary Election Commission over delay in voters’ lists.
The two-member bench of Supreme Court led by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the petition of PTI Chairman Imran Khan against bogus votes cast in by-elections.
The chief justice asked that if fresh election were announced today, what will be the situation then. He warned 28 newly elected candidates in by-election of legal action for not appearing before the court.
Hamid Khan, counsel for Imran Khan, argued that by-election held under incomplete Election Commission and election of 28 candidates is a big question mark.
The chief justice said that notices have been served to the elected candidate and if they did not appear in the court, decision may be came against them. He also asked reply from the Attorney General about the legal status of said candidates.
The CJ sought report from the Secretary Election Commission over delay in voters lists and adjourned the hearing of the case till Wednesday.
