slamabad: Leaders of American and Pakistani armed forces met on Saturday at the Army’s General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, DawnNews reported.
General John Allen, who is leading the delegation of International Security Assistance Force (Isaf) that arrived in Pakistan early Saturday, met with Pakistani Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani.
Both military officials talked over border-security issues, an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release said.
According to the website the officials at the meeting also discussed reopening of ground supply routes to Afghanistan.
Pakistan once again linked reopening of Nato-supply routes to a formal apology from US over the deadly Salala incident and the end of US drone strikes.
The visit of the Isaf delegation is in connection to Tripartite Commission meeting—a trilateral meeting between the military authorities of Pakistan, Afghanistan and the Isaf scheduled to take place in Pakistan, according to ISPR.
“The tripartite commission is expected to meet after the arrival of Afghan army chief, General Sher Muhammad Karimi on Sunday,” AFP quoted a senior security official as saying. The date and time of the meeting will be disclosed later, he added.
