Islamabad: Islamabad Police on Tuesday arrested Ahle Sunnat Wal Jammat (ASWJ) leader Maulana Ahmed Ludhianvi for violating section 144 of the constitution, sources said on Tuesday.
The sources said that Ludhianvi was shifted to I-9 police station of Islamabad by police while the supporters of the leader were staging a sit-in outside the police station demanding for the release of ASWJ leader.
“Ludhianvi would soon be released as police has accepted his bail,” they added.
Leaders of Difa-e-Pakistan Council Maulana Tahir Khali and others present in the police station were conducting talks regarding release of the ASWJ leader.
It is to be mentioned here that police arrested Ludhianvi from Principal road, Islamabad in accusation of violating section 144 0f the constitution according to which gathering of two or more people were not allowed.
